Fall Gutter & Eavestrough Prep

Prepare eavestroughs and drainage for Ontario fall leaf season and winter freeze — cleaning, guards, and downspout checks.

Clean before leaves pack in

Remove accumulated debris from summer storms. Packed wet leaves freeze into blockages that overflow and rot fascia boards over winter.

Inspect seams and pitch

Standing water in troughs indicates poor pitch or sagging hangers. Fix before freeze-thaw cycles split seams and pull gutters away from the fascia.

Downspout extensions

Ensure downspouts discharge at least 4–6 feet from foundation. Winter ice buildup at the base causes heaving and basement seepage in spring.

Consider Alu-Rex guards

If you clean gutters twice a year, gutter guards reduce maintenance significantly. Fall is an ideal time to install before the heaviest leaf drop.
